5 Spring Makeover Must Haves

Spring is a time of renewal with flowers blooming and days getting longer. Many of us take this opportunity for Spring cleaning after being closed up in our homes all winter. After cleaning out the dust bunnies, be sure to incorporate some of my favorite decor to put a little pep in your step as you walk in the front door.

Garden Inspiration

Spring is the perfect time to add seasonal flowers, fresh cut greenery or new plants into your home. Grab a favorite vase and fill it with whatever you can gather from your own backyard, neighborhood florist or local farmer’s market. Adding plants improves your indoor air quality, adds oxygen to your environment and increases the moisture level in your home. They can improve your sleep, alleviate allergies and be used as an edible garden.

Pastel Colors

Pastels are less saturated than other hues which makes for softer, easier viewing. Due to their lightness, pastel colors are seen as lightening and having energy. Pastel colors like peach, light pink or lilac have an uplifting effect on your mood. The brighter and lighter a color, the more happy and optimistic it will make you feel.

Change Your Pillow Covers

This is a Simple Trick I do for ALL my clients. Size your pillow cases so the inserts can be re-used and you are only storing flattened covers for seasonal changes. Create a Spring color palette by selecting a maximum of 3 colors to complement your larger pieces of furniture. Mix linear patterns with more organic ones and be sure to vary the scale of each pattern.

The color yellow relates to acquired knowledge. “It is the color which resonates with the left or logic side of the brain stimulating our mental faculties and creating mental agility and perception. Being the lightest hue of the spectrum, the color psychology of yellow is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, cheerfulness and fun.” according to Psychology.com.

Who doesn’t need a little fun this Spring?

FreshEN YOUR Front Door Wreath

Wreaths aren’t limited to holidays - you can add a seasonal wreath to your front door anytime. Stay with greenery or what’s currently blooming, even if using faux florals and stems.
